The government is seeking views on how to introduce mandatory membership of client money protection (CMP) schemes for lettings and management agents in England.
Responding to the announcement, Isobel Thomson, NALS chief executive, said:
“NALS has long campaigned for a fair PRS which works to the benefit of tenants, landlords and agents. It is our view that CMP is an important part of accomplishing that and this consultation on how CMP should be implemented is very welcome.
It also appears that our call for a coherent approach to the introduction of multiple measures to reform the PRS has been heeded by government. We will be responding to the consultation and will continue our work with government to deliver the best outcomes for all involved in the PRS.”
The consultation will run until 13 December 2017 and those wishing to submit feedback can find out more here.
