The Government has published their response to the Select Committee report into Protecting the homeless and the private rented sector. The response gives an outline of what will be in the Renters Reform Bill, including “longer term sector reform and abolishing Section 21” and the commitment to redress which has been left out of previous recent announcements.
Commenting, Isobel Thomson, safeagent Chief Executive, said:
“We welcome the Government’s response, particularly its commitment that any reforms consider not only tenants, but also the needs of landlords. If we want to see a safer, fairer sector for all, any changes must make sure that landlords are supported to remain within the sector, to continue to provide much needed housing. The Government is right to acknowledge there is more to do for the PRS and safeagent stands ready to work with them to ensure the reforms achieve the right outcomes for the sector.”
