Government have published Guidance for local authority enforcement officers, providing them with a central reference to help tackle rogue landlords in the Private Rented Sector.
Commenting, Isobel Thomson, NALS CEO, said:
“This latest move from Government to stamp out rogue landlord behaviour in the PRS is another positive step, but we still have a way to go.
“We hope this guidance will sit alongside the existing NALS Effective Enforcement Toolkit, which we know is of huge use in helping officers tackle non-compliant letting agents. However, the fact remains, that many enforcement teams are still chronically underfunded, and more resource needs to be given to tackle all rogue behaviours in the PRS, whether landlord or agent.”
