From 1 February it is law that landlords or agents acting on their behalf will have to carry out quick and simple checks to ensure potential tenants have the right to rent property in the UK.

There is also an updated version of the How to Rent guide which has been issued by the Department of Communities and Local Government which you can find here. This guide incorporates reference to Right to Rent checks and should be issued for all new and renewal tenancies from 1 February 2016.
