It’s Day 5 of SAFEagent Awareness Week 2015 and it’s shaping up to be our most successful campaign ever!
SAFEagent is delighted to announce today that Housing Minister, Brandon Lewis, has lent his support.
Mr. Lewis commented:
“We’re determined to create a bigger, better private rented sector in which tenants and landlords have the confidence that they will get a fair deal.
“That’s why we now require all letting agents to make clear whether they offer a tenant and landlord money protection scheme. I fully support schemes like SafeAgent and urge anyone looking to rent a home to look out for their logo.”
The Government’s “How to Rent” Guide gives advice to tenants on how to have a positive and SAFE experience of the private rented sector and includes a reference to SAFEagent.
Thank you very much to Brandon Lewis for adding his support to the 2015 campaign.
SAFEagent – Safe Agent Fully Endorsed – is a reliable mark denoting firms that protect landlords and tenants money through Client Money Protection schemes. Set up ‘by the industry, for the industry’ and recognised by the Government, it is supported by Government, Citizens Advice Bureaux, The Property Ombudsman, Ombudsman Services:Property, the Property Redress Scheme, My Deposits, TDS and DPS.
All agents registered with SAFEagent are part of regulatory organisations/accreditation schemes in the Private Rented Sector and Client Money Protection Schemes which reimburse consumers in the event of misappropriation of clients’ funds. There are several schemes in the sector operated by NALS, ARLA, the Law Society, RICS and UKALA to which agents voluntarily belong. The scope of these schemes varies and consumers should contact their agent for full details of the scheme of which they are a part.
The SAFEagent Steering Group comprises:
Northwood; Belvoir; Foxtons; Touchstone; Winkworth; Hunters, Spicerhaart, Sequence, Connells, Countrywide, Leaders and Savills.
