This year’s “SAFEagent Awareness Week” is running from 1 to 5 June 2015 and you can get involved and show your support!
SAFEagent Awareness Week 2015 sees over 3,000 professional lettings agents unite across the U.K. for what will be the 4th annual initiative that looks to drive awareness amongst consumers of the importance of choosing a lettings and management agent who is part of a Client Money Protection (CMP) Scheme.
The timing is auspicious because, from 27 May 2015, all lettings and management firms were required to display their fees and charges to landlords and tenants as well as displaying whether or not they are part of a Client Money Protection Scheme. This gives an excellent opportunity in SAFEagent Awareness Week for all SAFEagents to really promote that not only are they part of a Client Money Protection Scheme but that they are part of a campaign to ensure that consumers only use an agent who can offer them financial protection.
We are pleased that Endsleigh Insurance, who are a key supporter of SAFEagent, have offered a prize of an iPad mini to the SAFEagent who sends us either on Twitter (@safeagent) or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org the best photograph of promoting the SAFEagent campaign during the Week.
In this short video, Luke Boobyer of Endsleigh, explains why the insurance giant supports the SAFEagent initiative:

Thank you for supporting SAFEagent Awareness Week 2015 – making the PRS a better and safer place for landlords and tenants through promoting consumer protection and creating awareness of the importance of only letting through an agent who has client money protection in place!
SAFEagent – Safe Agent Fully Endorsed – is a reliable mark denoting firms that protect landlords and tenants money through Client Money Protection schemes. Set up ‘by the industry, for the industry’ and recognised by the Government, it is supported by Citizens Advice Bureaux, Shelter, Crisis, The Property Ombudsman, Ombudsman Services:Property, National Union of Students, My Deposits, TDS and DPS.
All agents registered with SAFEagent are part of a Client Money Protection Scheme which reimburses consumers in the event of misappropriation of clients’ funds. There are several schemes in the sector operated by NALS, ARLA, NAEA and RICS to which agents voluntarily belong. The scope of these schemes varies and consumers should contact their agent for full details of the scheme of which they are a part.
The SAFEagent Steering Group comprises:
Northwood; Belvoir; Bushells; Foxtons; Touchstone; Winkworth; Hunters, Spicerhaart, Sequence, Countrywide, Leaders, and Savills.
