Sequence Lettings play it SAFE

Sequence has become the latest firm to join the nationwide SAFEagent campaign aimed at protecting tenants’ and landlords’ money.

All letting agents trading under Sequence, including 11 well-known and established local brands like Barnard Marcus, William H Brown and Fox & Sons, will now carry the easily identifiable SAFEagent mark. This will enable tenants to immediately see that their money is protected, following a raft of high profile media cases where unscrupulous lettings agents have absconded with tenant and landlord funds.

Over 1,200 lettings and management offices are already registered with SAFE, which also has the backing of industry and consumer organizations such as the Residential Landlords Association, Shelter, CAB, British Property Federation, The Property Ombudsman and the Council of Mortgage Lenders. Key suppliers to the sector are also supportive of SAFEagent and HomeLet has led the way in pledging its backing to the campaign.

Stephen Nation, Divisional Managing Director for Sequence Lettings comments:

“We are delighted to endorse SAFEagent which is a simple and straightforward way for consumers to see that a firm is part of a money protection scheme. Consumers should be able to make an informed choice when choosing a letting agent so being part of this scheme, combined with Sequence’s well-established, rigorous internal policies and compliance measures should give our customers complete peace of mind.”

Nick Cooper, Chair of the SAFE Steering Group said:

“It’s great news that Sequence Lettings has signed up to become a registered SAFEagent and is testimony to the fact that professional agents are determined to protect tenants and landlords from ‘uninsured’ letting agents who disappear with clients’ money. We want every tenant and landlord to ‘play safe’ and be aware that they CAN protect their money and ask the right questions up front. We have invited Sequence to join us on the SAFEagent Steering Group** so that they can throw their considerable weight behind our consumer campaign. We would urge all lettings and management agents to stand united and sign up ahead of our consumer launch for what is fast becoming a must-have registration.”
